The British town of Henley-on-Thames is having its moment thanks to new infrastructure, housing and exceptional transport links, making it an ideal location for a new Regus hub

In opening 18,000 sq ft of flexible office space in Henley-on-Thames, Regus has created new possibilities for freelancers and professionals running their businesses remotely in the surrounding area.

Situated in the Newton Road Business Park, 15 minutes’ walk from Henley-on-Thames station, the Regus Henley building enables companies from a diverse range of industries to build their business without having to outlay money on renting an office of their own.

Richard Morris, UK CEO of Regus, said: “Demand for flexible workspace is growing rapidly everywhere – our research shows that 53% of global professionals globally now work remotely for at least half their working week and 30% of corporate real estate portfolios could be flexible workspace by 2030.

“People are conscious that they’re far more productive and successful in a dynamic working environment, while businesses are waking up to the financial and strategic benefits. Regus is helping to supply this demand.”

Yet as a company with a presence in all the world’s major cities, why did Regus decide to invest in this small but affluent town of just 12,000 people?

For a start, just 37 miles from London, Henley is an ideal base for the commuter-base travelling in and out of the capital. The new location offers strategic benefits for professionals looking to work closer to home while only needing to make infrequent trips to London for client meetings or to regroup with wider teams.

Henley as a town is also predicted to experience a considerable population increase over the coming years following a £218 million government investment for new housing in the Oxfordshire region. This is set to almost double the number of homes built from 4,000 to 7,500 annually and will be in addition to £215 million set aside for new infrastructure in the form of improved roads, rail lines and cycle lanes for the riverside town.

As growing numbers of professionals adopt flexible working arrangements, having empowering environments in which to flourish is vital to both the local and national economy. A flexible working hub in Henley-on-Thames taps into a blossoming trend for work-life balance, demonstrating a town that is evolving to meet the needs of the modern workforce.
